Joy – Advent Culminates

“Shout for joy to Go, all the earth; sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise! Say to God, ‘How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies come cringing to you. All the earth worships you and sings praises to you; they sing praises to your name.’ Selah. Come and see what God has done: he is awesome in his deeds toward the children of man.” Psalm 66:1-5

Advent: He is coming.

Look forward with eager expectation. Look back with gratitude and thanksgiving.

The coming of a baby. The coming of the King.

Immanuel. God with us. God has saved us, is saving us, will save us.

Redeemer, Counselor, and King.

Shout for joy. Lift up your voices. The Lord is come. He comes to make His blessings flow as far as the curse is found.

It is done. Now and not yet.

Eternity stepped into time. Word made into flesh. Light of the world.

Rejoice! It is finished. The Savior has come and will come again.

Joy to the world. Joy, unspeakable and full of glory.

Let the heart ring out with gladness for the Messiah has come at last.

Oh merciful Creator, from the rising of the sun to its going down, we praise you for what your hands have done. In you, lies our only hope. In you, our faith clings. In you, we find everlasting love. In you, joy eternal. Save us from our sins, our aching brokenness. Save us from ourselves, our lies, our pride. Behold, you have made a way by sending your only Son as our sacrifice. You are making all things new. Be our light, our vision, our redemption. Now and forevermore.
